Laser Tattoo Removal – The #1 Med Spa in Los Angeles04.21.19

When you decide to remove your tattoo, laser tattoo removal works to break up pigment for permanent removal of the ink.During your tattoo session, your artist slowly inputs pigment one bit at a time. With laser treatments the process is essentially reversed as laser energy works to slowly break up and release the pigment from the skin. With each treatment your tattoo will slowly fade away. After a course of treatments, your tattoo will be virtually unnoticeable, without harm to your skin.

Our Alma Harmony Q-Switch laser produces short pulses of powerful sound waves that pass, without harm, through the upper layers of the skin to target and break up the unwanted tattoo pigment. This energy from the Q-Switch laser shatters the tattoo pigment into small nano (thousands of tiny molecules) sized particles that are then removed gradually by the bodys regular metabolism and lymphatic drainage system.Over the course of your treatment series, your tattoo will gradually fade away. The laser tattoo removal process is non-surgical and non-invasive treatment and can be performed with virtually no downtime.

Your next treatment should be no sooner than 8 to 12 weeks. When you schedule an appointment with us, the laser immediately works its magic to break up the pigment. Thereafter your body is responsible for eliminating the ink. It does this as a natural process of metabolization and blood flow, but it needs 8 to 12 weeks to fully resolve targeted ink molecules. Each laser sessions breaks up only a certain amount of the tattoo, so you will need to return for successive treatments until the tattoo fully resolves.

Generally, anyone with an unwanted tattoo can be treated, with the following exceptions:Pregnant or nursing women. Those with an active infection at or near the desired treatment area. Those with heart problems, cancer, history of seizures and immune system disorders. Those with implanted medical devices. Those with a history of Keloid Scarring as tattoo removal may cause keloid scarring.Other factors will need to be considered once you have come in for a free consultation with one of our medical professionals.

Any skin tone can be treated.

Any area of the body can be treated.

With all tattoo removal treatments, we suggest a minimum of 6 sessions at least, spaced 8 to 12 weeks apart. While many may see sensational results after just a few treatments, there are cases/types of tattoos where one may require more treatments to fully resolve. Our technology, the Alma Harmony Q-Switch tattoo removal laser targets pigment, so the particular color and type of ink to be removed largely determines how relatively easy or challenging the tattoo removal process may be for your unique tattoo. How many treatments you will need vary on a couple factors of the tattoo you want treated: -The color of the ink -Your skin tone -Any scarring that may be present -The amount of ink that was used.

The easiest tattoo colors removed are black, dark blue, gray and green. Colors such as light blue, aqua, pink, brown, orange and yellow may never completely fade away. Each individual pigment is comprised of a different kind of metal that will react differently under laser tattoo removal, so better quality tattoos will present less challenges to remove.

The Alma Harmony Q-Switch laser Tattoo Removal system targets pigment, and while it can bypass your natural skin tone, those with deeper skin tones may require more treatments.

Those with medium to fair skin tones are best candidates.Tattoos with dark, shallow laid ink are easiest to treat.Areas closest to your heart resolve and heal the fastest. Each individual pigment is comprised of a different kind of metal and will react differently to the laser.Professional tattoo inks that do not have titanium dioxide or iron oxide are easier to treat.Tattoos performed by amateur sources are the hardest to resolve.Typically, the older the tattoo, the more sessions it could take to resolve. Those with immune system deficiencies heal the slowest, so more treatments will almost absolutely be needed. Those who smoke will also need more treatments to rid of the tattoo.White ink cannot be treated.Yellow ink may never fully resolve.Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding will not be treated for tattoo removal. The easiest colors to remove thoroughly are black, dark blue, gray and green. Colors such as light blue, purple, aqua, pink, brown, orange and yellow may never fully fade away.

While we ensure the utmost safety, there are always risks with any cosmetic or corrective procedure received. For laser tattoo removal the severe risks include infection at the removal site, incomplete pigment removal, darkening of the skin in the treated area, whitening of the skin in the treated area and even scarring. Those with a history of keloid scars may develop a keloid post treatment. While we do offer treatment to resolve any keloids that may arise, these cannot be treated until tattoo removal sessions are fully satisfied.

You should also know there are cases where the tattoo removal requires multiple sessions, often as much as 20 or 30 treatments. And in some cases, the tattoo remnants may still be visible after repeated treatments. In some cases, a scar may be left behind tattoo removal treatments-this can be treated with alternate laser treatments when tattoo removal sessions are satisfied. Those with deeper skin tones make the process more challenging. Unfortunately sometimes hypo pigmentation (loss of skin pigment) can occur. Although this doesnt happen with most clients, it is possible. In cases where the skin tone is deeper, we are always very careful to proceed safely with each treatments in order to keep the risk of hypo-pigmentation to a minimum.

We use a medical grade numbing cream for all tattoo removal treatments, and can sometimes offer injection of numbing agent for certain small tattoos, which makes the treatment generally painless. When the treatment is initiated, you may feel a sensation similar to tapping or a rubber band snapping. The process is fast and simple and once treatment is done, there is no more pain. Our nurses have been trained to be diligent in the process of tattoo removal to ensure the best coverage for the ultimate best results.

When you walk out of our clinic after a tattoo removal treatment, the area is bandaged and completely covered. You are advised NOT to swim, sauna, sunbathe or go in the ocean post treatment. This is because when you receive a treatment, the area of the tattoo that has been targeted will immediately appear slightly puffed up; this happens when the pigment is targeted and the resulting heat is in the process of being eliminated from the body. This slight raised area should resolve within a few minutes to a few hours post treatment. In some cases this could last up to a few days. In some cases, you may see redness, swelling, blistering, peeling or flaking. You may also see a scab form. Surrounding skin is unaffected. It usually takes about 3 to 6 weeks between treatments for the body to absorb the shattered pigment fragments. Then, once the area has completely healed weeks, you are ready to continue your treatments. We generally suggest treatment no sooner than 12 weeks.

We ask that you refrain from hot tubs, swimming pools, dips in the ocean or water sports until the skins surface has completed healed and sealed up again-meaning there should be no openings in the area targeted. We will ask that you continue to keep the treated area moisturized, ideally with Aquaphor. Do not pick peel or scratch the treatment area. Let the area heal on its own.Cover the treated area with a thick bandage if you are planning on being in the sun.

If you are considering just slightly removing or reducing your tattoo for whatever reason, we can help with that too! In these cases we would suggest a base of 3 to 6 treatments to yield your desired stop point.

Any scarring that is present in the area to be treated for tattoo removal by the Alma Harmony Q-Switch laser will remain after the tattoo has been removed. In the majority of cases, this scarring may have been caused by the application of the ink when the tattoo was originally applied. If you have a tattoos over pre-existing scars, the scar might lessen the results of the tattoo removal process, as scars tend to exhibit a different type of pigment than surrounding healthy tissue. But, it is important to note that tattoo removal is not the same as scar removal, and will have no effect at all toward that end.

We can remove tattoos from any part of the body, but the process is a little faster when the tattoos are located closer to your bodys center (heart and torso). The fragmented pigment is removed by the bloodstream, and therefore this process happens faster where you have the best circulation. So, those areas nearest your heart, such as the chest, abs, and back will see faster results with fewer treatments. The various extremities such as hands, arms, feet and legs, tend to require more treatments because those areas have less circulation.

In this case, It is very helpful to come in and have a FREE consultation regarding your laser tattoo removal. Very dark ink, or ink that has been layered and/or retouched can be very difficult to remove completely. The best case scenario for for removal of tattoos with the Alma harmony Q-Switched laser are: tattoos where there is already significant fading of the ink, or tattoos that are smaller and have a minimum number of colors.

How much physical exercise you get, if you are a smoker, your medical history and rate of metabolism are all factors that can determine how quickly tattoos may be removed.Come in for a FREE consultation and let one of our highly trained medical professionals give you an evaluation today.

Tattoo Removal – Alma Lasers04.21.19

How to remove a tattoo successfully with medical lasersTrying to figure out how to remove a tattoo? Unwanted dark and multi-colored tattoos can be safely and effectively eliminated with Almas variety of tattoo removal treatments. These are clinically proven laser treatments which use a various laser wavelengths that target different ink colors. High-intensity light beams create a photo acoustic shock wave that breaks up the ink particles in the tattoo. The result after a number of sessions reveals clear, ink-free skin with minimal risk of scarring or hypopigmentation.Successful multi-color tattoo removal requires a high powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors. The high power Q-Switched Nd:YAG 1064nm laser is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue and green), while the 532nm wavelength is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange and yellow). The treatment mechanically breaks down ink particles without causing thermal damage. In time, the bodys lymphatic system disposes of the ink fragments. This natural healing process causes the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or discoloration.

According to statistics, the typical American tattoo patient is single, female, 24-39 years old, and college educated and of those, 40% cited employment concerns as the reason for tattoo removal. Most millennials desire tattoo removal. Therefore, if you have unwanted tattoos and would like to have them removed then PicoSure laser tattoo removal can help you achieve your goals! Compared to other laser tattoo devices over the past several years, PicoSure provides safer and more effective technology to remove tattoos faster and with ease.

The PicoSure laser not only removes tattoos but our Medical SpaAestheticians use it for skin rejuvenation using special lenses designed specifically to refract the energy pulses, called PicoSure Focus. Using the same picosecond technology, the PicoSure Focus Skin treatment can treat resistant melasma, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage in dark-skinned patients and Asian patients without skin complications. Furthermore, there is very little downtime following the PicoSure Focus Skin treatment. For more information, contact our office to speak with one of our Medical Aestheticians.

How PicoSure differs from other Q-switched laser tattoo removal devices is based on the technology of the picosecond. Using patented picosecond technology, the PicoSure laser delivers an ultra-short burst of energy directly to the tattoo pigment in a trillionth of a second. The ultra-short pulse of energy that is directed to the pigmentis so fast and quick, it vibrates and shatters the target ink into extremely small particles that are easily and naturally eliminated by the body. The PicoSuretechnology is so amazingly fast, that is utilizes photomechanical pressure waves instead of photothermal heat waves, thus reducing side effects and impartingless heat injury to the surrounding skin. Other advantages of the PicoSure laser for tattoo removal include fewer treatments than traditional Q-switched lasers and improved removal of all colors.

The number of PicoSure laser treatments needed for tattoo removal is dependent on ink type, size of the tattoo, and age of tattoo. While other Q-switched lasers can require up to 15 or more treatments, PicoSure can produce faster results with significantly less treatment sessions. With PicoSure, the average amount of treatment sessions are between 3 to5. During your consultation, our practitioner will evaluate your tattoo and recommend a realistic treatment regime to help you achieve the best and realistic results.

Typically, you will wait4-6 weeks between treatment sessions, as this time interval allowsthe body to absorb tattoo ink particles and allows the surrounding skin to completely heal. Current studies indicate that there needs to be appropriate waiting periods between tattoo removal sessions to allow enough ink particles to be self eliminated by the body. This will also be discussed during your consultation as results will vary between all clients.

Yes and Yes. The PicoSure laser is precise enough to partially remove specific areas of your tattoo, thus allowing some clients to repair or fix preexisting tattoos without complete removal. In addition, our office providesboth the 755 nm and the 532 nm laser hand pieces, thus we are capable of removing mostall tattoo colors in the light spectrum black, blue, green, red, orange, yellow.

This procedure is slightly more uncomfortable than getting your original tattoo; however, the treatment session is very fast. In fact, many treatments may take less than a minute. Your practitionerwill work with you on the best pain management option based on your individual situation. Our office usestopical numbing medicine and Zimmer Chiller ultra-cool air blower.

Blisters and scabs are a normal response to tattoo removal but scarring is extremely rare given the precise technology of the PicoSure technology. Remember, the PicoSure laserwas specifically designed to remove tattoos and is far superior than other Q-switched tattoo lasers on the market. Our office will provide detailed post tattoo removal instructions following your session.

The cost of laser tattoo removal depends on several factors, including the size of tattoo and the number of treatments required for removal. After your consultation, the practitioner will provide you an estimated price quote for the treatment series. Because the PicoSure laser technology is faster, better, and different than other Q-switched lasers, the cost per session is a slightlyhigher in comparison. However, in the end you will pay less because you will undergo fewertreatment sessions.

In addition, full sleeve and half arm sleeves, full back tattoos, and other much larger sized tattoos will have to be individually quoted in an package.

The Healing Process: What To Expect After Tattoo Removal In NYC04.07.19

Not every tattoo ends up looking as we expect, and some individuals who get tattoos may otherwise realize later on that they would rather not have a specific tattoo on their body. Tattoo removal in NYC provides individuals with the choice to remove an unwanted tattoo by undergoing a simple, effective process using state-of- the-art tattoo removal technology.

After you have undergone your tattoo removal procedure, it is important but also helpful for your own sake to be aware of what you can expect during the healing process. Although laser technology such as PicoSure has made innovative strides as an increasingly efficient tattoo removal method, there are still some effects that you may notice following your procedure.

After you have visited your trusted dermatologist in NYC, determined the PicoSure removal process as ideal for your needs, and undergone the procedure, there are a few common effects that you may notice. The healing process following PicoSure tattoo removal NYC typically lasts about 14 days.

The most common observable effects that you may experience during your laser tattoo removal aftercare process include mild swelling across the treated area, as well as some redness.

If you experience these effects, it is important to remember that these are common. Some of the symptoms, including post-treatment blisters, actually indicate that your body is healing as it should. Although these effects may be uncomfortable, they may also positively signal your skins adaptability and its ability to adequately respond to the treatment.

In addition, it is also important to note that, directly following the procedure, the skin that has been treated will turn a white frost color. So do not be alarmedthis is normal. In most cases, this will only last a few minutes, but be sure to contact your dermatologist in NYC if you have any concerns.

Your treated skin will evidently be the most tender the first few days after receiving your procedure of laser tattoo removal in NYC. Your practitioner will have placed a bandage over the treated area, and it is important to not fuss with this as it can irritate the treated skin.

You will want to wait until day 2 or at least 24 hours after you have undergone the procedure before showering or soaking your skin. When you do shower, try to keep the treated skin out of the direct stream of water.

Following the first day of keeping the bandage secured on your skin, you will want to keep the skin uncovered as much as possible during the second day. This will allow the healing area to breathe. Do try to keep the treated area clean to the best of your ability.

Blisters may develop on the treated area between one and three days following your procedure. This is normal. However, do not pick or otherwise irritate these blisters, as they will drain and dry into scabs on their own. Avoiding unnecessary contact with the scabs is recommended as well in order to avoid irritating the skin. These scabs commonly fall off between 10 14 days after your treatment.

Although it would certainly be preferable for a single treatment to be enough to completely remove your tattoo, this is not always the case. Depending on the size of the tattoo, as well as other factors such as the type of ink, the location of the tattoo on your body, lifestyle habits, and other relevant variables, you may need more than one tattoo removal treatment to completely remove the tattoo.

Your dermatologist will be able to help you determine an appropriate treatment regime based on your individual needs during your consultation.

Lastly, to ensure that your treated skin heals properly and with the least amount of discomfort following your PicoSure tattoo removal in NYC, here are some general tips you may wish to keep in mind:

Our team of aestheticians and board-certified Dermatologists can help you permanently remove your unwanted tattoos.

Laser Tattoo Removal in Ann Arbor, Michigan – The Michigan …04.07.19

Laser Tattoo Removal is based on science and applies Principles of Physics toassures that the correct wavelength of light emitted by the laser is used (based on tattoo ink colors), and the laser is carefully calibrated, tuned, and manufactured. The goal is to remove unwanted ink in as short a time as possible with minimal side effects.

Laser tattoo removal follows the principle ofselective photothermolysis. This means that laser light must destroys the target without damaging the surrounding tissue (skin).

This requires careful choice, manufacture, and calibration of the laser used, as well as the wavelength of light used so that the thermal relaxation time (defined as the time necessary for the target to cool 50% through diffusion of heat to surrounding tissues) is greater than the laser pulse duration.

Fluence sufficient to reach a damaging temperature in target chromophores (tattoo inks) without damaging surrounding tissue structures is the critical element of selective photothermolysis.

We have select our tattoo removal lasers basedon their safety as well as their ability to remove tattoo colors. This begins with selection of the laser and its treatment characteristics.

Many laser handpieces do not produce a uniform laser beam. This results in a gaussian effect. This means the laser beam hits the center of the area it is aiming for but undertreats the outer or peripheral area. More overlap is needed to hit the missed areas, leading to less effective pigment treatment and more potential for skin damage. The handpieces that we use provide a uniform beam so there are no missed spots and skin overheating is minimized.

The tattoo removal consultation and treatment process is available for your view from a recent interview with Dr.Burke in the article: Tattoos and Regrets in the age of lasers. by Ali Shapiro.

Dr.Burke completed thermal studies in men and women using the Smart Lipo Laser for liposculpture. These proved that lower temperatures provided optimal skin shrinkage with an improved safety profile compared to the higher temperatures initially recommended. These were published in the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and were also presented at their annual meetings.

Dr. Burke also completed a study using the Astanza Ruby 694 laser for resistant tattoo ink removal. His results were presented at the annual AACS meeting. There was dramatic tattoo clearance of resistant ink colors using this wavelength of light.

Dr.Burke also was principal investigator for a cold laser developed by Erchonia corporation for pain relief.

In addition to being one of Michigans top cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Burke is a tattoo removal expert. With over 28 years of experience, Dr. Burke has produced great results for patients wanting to remove their unwanted ink. Now, with the Astanza Trinity laser, Dr. Burke can remove all tattoo colors faster than ever before.

About Laser Tattoo RemovalLaser tattoo removal is the only safe and effective method for removing unwanted ink without surgery. How Laser Tattoo Removal Affects Body Hair – Body Details04.07.19

A common concern for those looking to receive laser tattoo removal treatments is how the laser will affect the hair in the area surrounding their unwanted ink. Since many people dont fully understand the technology behind the lasers used for both laser tattoo removal and laser hair removal treatments, many assume the same lasers are used for both procedures, leading to the assumption that getting a tattoo removed will also remove or damage body hair. Those looking to have a tattoo removed on an area of the body where missing body hair would be obvious (such as the scalp or arms and chest for men) tend to put up with unwanted tattoos for longer than they should. So, rather than procrastinate getting laser hair removal any longer, learn the truth about how these treatments will affect body hair.

When receiving laser hair removal treatments, lasers designed to target and damage hair follicles are used. This is how these treatments are able to provide permanent results. On the other hand, the lasers used for tattoo removal are designed to target different colors of pigment found in a tattoos ink. Since the hair and ink are found in different layers of the skin, tattoo removal can be performed without damaging or permanently affecting hair growth in the area.

To understand how laser tattoo removal differs from laser hair removal, its best to first understand the layers of the skin. The skin is made up of three separate layers: the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Body fat and connective tissue make up the hypodermis, which is the deepest layer of the skin. The mid layer, the dermis, is where the hair follicles and sweat glands can be found, and the epidermis is considered the protective layer of the skin.

While both hair follicles and tattoo ink can be found in the dermis layer, the two are considered to be worlds apart. The dermis has two layers within itself: the reticular dermis and the papillary dermis. Ink from a tattoo rests toward the top of the dermis layer in the papillary dermis, so that a tattoo can be seen through the epidermis. The papillary dermis intertwines with the epidermis to make this possible.

Body hair, on the other hand, can be found throughout the dermis and epidermis layers, providing an additional protective layer for our skin. The hair follicle however, which is what is targeted by lasers to permanently remove hair, is found in the deeper layer of the dermis, namely in the reticular dermis. While this is only millimeters away from the papillary dermis where tattoo ink lays, they might as well be miles apart when careful laser tattoo removal treatments are being performed.

The lasers used for laser hair removal are very different from the lasers used for tattoo removal, but those who dont understand how lasers wavelengths are measured may find that confusing. Lasers all emit wavelengths that are measured in nanometers. This measurement not only differentiates lasers used for hair removal from those used for tattoo removal, but also differentiates the different settings used for the various pigment colors in the ink. The most common wavelengths used for laser tattoo removal are 1064 nm, 532 nm, 694 nm and 755 nmall specific for different ink colors and skin types.

Lasers used for hair removal also emit wavelengths of 755 nm to remove hair, similar to the 755 nm tattoo removal laser used to remove blue and green tattoo ink pigments; however, the pulse duration used in each treatment is very different. The duration of laser pulses used in hair removal are far longer than those used in tattoo removal, as the laser needs to reach further into the layers of the skin to be able to reach the hair follicles. This allows the lasers to target different areas of the dermis without damaging the epidermis.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when researching places to have their laser tattoo removal treatments done is focusing on the price of each session rather than the kind of laser being used and how well trained the technicians are. Even though there are great lasers out there that wont affect the body hair after sessions, that doesnt mean the laser clinic around the corner is using them. Generally, lower end laser spas will use one or two lasers for all of the treatments they offer. Using the wrong laser or a laser set to the wrong setting for a tattoo removal will not only increase the chance of blistering and scarring, but the removal process will be much slower compared to those who use the latest technology. One can end up spending more money on treatments and might have to wait years before being happy with the results.

Additionally, if a laser technician isnt trained properly, theres a higher risk of damage being done to the hair surrounding the unwanted ink. Laser tattoo removal treatments should only be performed by a licensed medical professional who has been properly trained on the laser they are using.

In conclusion, few people experience any difference to their hair growth pattern after laser tattoo removal treatments, as the lasers being used shouldnt target hair follicles. Similar to when the tattoo was done, however, a laser technician might shave the area so that theyre able to clearly see the lines of unwanted ink. If a tattoo is on the scalp or chest, understand that this might be an area where the skin is bare or stubbly for a few months while treatments are being performed.

Some hair loss after laser hair removal treatments is normal, especially for those whose unwanted tattoo is in an area where body hair is excessive. The hair also tends to grow back slower than usual after each treatment until the area is able to fully recover when tattoo removal is complete. These side effects are certainly not permanent though, and very few people experience them.

Decorative tattoos have been placed on peoples bodies for over 3,000 years.

However, a lot has changed even over the last ten years regarding tattoos, and tattoo removal. Newer lasers now remove tattoos in fewer treatments. In addition, we often use multiple lasers to remove a single tattoo, since tattoos can become resistant to a single laser. The newer tattoos with variable colored inks require a number of lasers for removal. For example, green is one of the more difficult colors to remove, and requires a special type of laser, the Q-Switched alexandrite laser, for removal. The other lasers commonly used for tattoo removal include the Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser, the Q-Switched ruby lasers and the newest laser the Picoway Laser. I use all of these types of laser to remove tattoos in the fewest possible number of treatments.

The way a tattoo will respond to laser treatment depends heavily on the colors that are in that tattoo. Black tattoos are generally the easiest to remove, since black tattoo pigments absorb every type of tattoo laser light. Generally, tattoos take 4-8, or more or less treatments to remove. This is quite a large range, and people generally want a more accurate estimate of the number of treatments required to remove a tattoo. Unfortunately, since there are such a huge range of tattoo inks, and since these inks arent regulated by the FDA, its extremely difficult to estimate the number of treatments required to remove a given tattoo. However, one thing that is certain is that the newer tattoo-removing lasers are much more effective than lasers produced only a decade ago.

Because of the popularity of tattoos (about half of people 18-30 have them), laser companies are investing heavily on new lasers to remove them. By staying at the forefront of laser research, I can bring you the newest lasers and techniques for tattoo removal, resulting in the least number of treatments for removal.
