Sad Amish is far from being sad, and obviously not an Amish! With this offbeat moniker, the French tattoo artist just wants to keep his anonymity and make fun of his silly looking hat.

This mysterious artist is working in his private shop The Church in Bordeaux, yet his work is not very orthodox. Indeed, he distinguishes himself with sexy blackwork tattoos and art. A quirky habit that he took at a very tender age. Sad Amish tells Konbini:

“Im drawing nude girls since the age of eleven… While other kids were drawing houses and cars, I was fascinated by the beauty of the female body.”

His tattoos of scantily clad beauties are fascinating both the tattoo community and fetish lovers. There is something hypnotic in their mischievous eyes, wild black mane and serpentine bodies.

Even if Sad Amish didnt intend to restyle the classic pin-up, his ladies are definitely adding a chapter to the discussion started by Gil Elvgren and Milo Manara

“My heroines are in part inspired by my personal life and especially by the beautiful girls who used to share my life. I use themas a reference for my flash designs.

For the custom pieces, Im just listening to the desires and fantasies that my clients want to express in their tattoos.”

Spicing up casual situations or exploring more extreme practices such as BDSM or drugs, the artist knows how to turn his followers on Yet,he admits he still has taboos and prefers to stay in sensual aesthetics: first kiss, first look…

Sad Amish came across the idea of developing his naughty style during a Halloween Flash Day. Back then, he was working at BSA tattoo shop in Aix en Provence. “I didnt want to draw ghosts and Jack-o-lantern stuff, so I wondered myself what could be the genuine demon of man. And, of course, I thought of awoman,” he tells us.

But there is no derogatory connotation in the work of the French artist, nor any exploitation of female body. His erotica is made for open-minded people, both for the hedonists and the romantic lovers.

“I want to show the sheer beauty of the physical sharing between a man and a woman, two women or any other kind of authentic relationship. My work is a tribute to the intimacy that unites human beings and shapes couples’ happiness.”
