Tattoo parlours hit the headlines last week after they announced they were offering iconic bee tattoos to raise money for the victims of the Manchester Arena attack.

One parlour, Inkspire Rochdale, offered inkings at just 25 a piece with all proceeds going to The Manchester Fund.

However the shop has today come under fire after it was revealed that the owner has reportedly donated the funds to another charity, because such a huge amount has already been raised for the victims.

In total, Inkspire raised 1,275 after tattooing 51 people with the symbol as asign of respect and love.

The bees have become a symbol for the 22 killed afterterrorist Salman Abedi detonated his bomb in the foyer of the arena on May 22.

In a post, a spokesperson for the parlour said: So guys, after careful consideration all of your donations have been forwarded to Samantha Smith, a single mum who is in need of a major life saving surgery.

As such a huge, huge, amount has been raised already for such a great cause we thought perhaps we would help another of our own from the Manchester/ Rochdale area.

We hope everyone understands this is for such a great cause, we would like to thank everyone who gave towards charity.

The post has since been deleted.

Marc Whittam screenshot the status, and later shared it back on the page in anger.

He said: So everyone that had the bee tattoo from this place have had there kindness and generosity abused.

All because in their opinion Manchester has raised enough.

Every single person that had this tattoo is expecting there (sic) money to go towards the Manchester fund.

But no, this shop decides it wants to give it elsewhere BOLLOCKS people want there cash to go towards the Manchester fund so there it should go.

Shame on you, Inkspire.

Since announcing the decision, the parlours social media pages have been filled with angry messages from customers.

One person said: Thisis fraud and is totally wrong! Fake advertising! If you wanted to do this should of set up both charities at same time so people could pick which one!

Another said: You cant use a tragedy like Manchester to falsely raise money to donate somewhere else because you want to look better than other studios!

Samantha Smith has since spoken out, stating that she will be removing the donation from her page and forwarding the funds to the Manchester victims.

Samantha added that Inkspire have said they will match the original donation to go towards her surgery.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson for Inkspire said: Unfortunately this is a misunderstanding and I did advertise that I was doing the Manchester bee for charity, yet I didnt stipulate which charity.

Some of my customers automatically presumed from the comments that have been made that this was the case and I can only apologise to them for that.

Under no circumstance have I or any of the staff intended to be deceitful.

I apologise for the upset this may have caused but at least the money, in my opinion, went to a worthy cause.
