Fredd Cheetham and Michelle Carter started their tattoo careers in Rhode Island in 2010. After earning BFAs in Illustration from the University of Massachusetts and completing apprenticeships, Fredd and Michelle decided to go into business together and haven't looked back. They opened 1001 Troubles Tattoo in 2013.Named after the infamous amusement park once located on Island Park in Portsmouth RI, the two eventually ventured to the quaint and quirky little town of Warren RI.Eventually they picked up Dani Ryan in the beginning of 2016, a talented RISD graduate who pursued a traditional apprenticeship with Fredd as her mentor.

Together, these 3 have become like a close family and strive to become better artists and people. They each add a small amount of experience, wisdom, and personality into each tattoo they make.

A third said: Catching up on #ImACeleb and wondering is Ant sporting some new & rather lovely tattoos on his arms? Never noticed them before now!

Another joked: Ants taken a year out and come back with a load of tattoos like some kind of gap year.

Others believed theyd worked out the hidden meaning behind the arrow tattoo.

A Wearable Graphene Sensor Used to Monitor Health – AZoNano11.20.19

Scientists in Barcelona, Spain, have developed a new breed of wearable light sensors based on graphene. These sensors use ambient light to accurately measure vitals such as human pulse and blood oxygen levels. Their innovation has implications for the future of health-care monitoring, offering the sector augmented wearables that could be used to monitor and prevent healthcare issues.

Wearable technology has become increasingly popular in recent years. The US market is predicted to be valued at $51.6 billion by 2022, representing a rapid growth at a CAGR of 15.51% from 2016 to 2022. Devices are being used to benefit the health of wearers by monitoring their vitals, helping them to track and improve their fitness levels, as well as to prevent them from developing common health problems such as hypertension, heart failure, stress-related complications, and more.

While current wearables available on the market may have a soft outer shell, they are constructed by rigid sensors and electronics, which prevents them from being as efficient and accurate as they could be because the sensors are not in optimum contact with the skin.

The Spanish team set to overcome this drawback by developing a sensor that is completely flexible and transparent to allow it to collect more accurate measurements of vitals. To achieve this they developed a system that uses ambient light that is detected by an innovative sensor constructed of graphene, covered with a layer of semiconducting nanoparticles to measure these vital signs.

Developers of the next generation of wearable devices are heavily focused on exploring how 2D materials can be used to augment the designs of current technologies. 2D materials have many features that appeal to the development of enhanced wearables, such as electrical conductivity, optical transparency, mechanical flexibility, biocompatibility, and stability to biological electrolytes. Graphene is one such example of a 2D material, and it has already been used successfully to create tattoo-like devices that can measure a number of vitals with impressive accuracy.

A recent study, published in the journal Science Advances, outlines how researchers created a revolutionary flexible and transparent wearable device capable of delivering continuous and accurate measurements of vital signs such as respiration rate, heart rate, blood pulse oxygenation, and exposure to UV radiation. The benefits of the device are that its read-out is produced on a connected device, and can operate battery-free by charging it wirelessly through a phone.

In addition, the bracelet is designed to adapt to the skin surface, enabling optimized contact for continuous measurement. It incorporates a light sensor that is also flexible and can use light information to determine changes in the volume of blood vessels due to the cardiac cycle and calculate vitals from this information. Also, the researchers developed a graphene health patch that can be adhered to the screen of a mobile phone to give real-time measurements from the touch of a finger.

The most unique feature of the design is that it uses ambient light to collect measurements, enabling a device that consumes little energy and promotes continuous monitoring of health markers. Using this core technology, a flexible UV patch prototype was also constructed which also operates battery-free and can collect continuous, reliable data, to be used to alert wearers to the danger of over-exposure.

What was achieved by the team in Barcelona is likely to have a game-changing effect on the landscape of wearable technology. The use of graphene-quantum-dots in fully flexible wearable devices has been demonstrated to be successful, and the opportunity is now there to develop commercially ready wearable devices based on this technology that may allow for the establishment of improved health-monitoring wearables.

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week offers healing and celebration – CTV News11.20.19

Cassandra Szklarski, The Canadian Press Published Sunday, November 17, 2019 9:27AM EST

The shape of a silhouette, the stitch on a hem, the colour of a garment -- these elements of clothing design are more than esthetic choices for Indigenous artist Yolonda Skelton of the Gitxsan Nation.

Together they can provide a glimpse into the life of a person, a clan, and a nation, she says, and this week these stories take centre stage at the Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week.

A key showcase will be Monday's opening night gala dedicated to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and members of the two-spirit LGBTQ community.

The "Red Dress Event" features red dresses and garments by designers including Skelton, Debra Sparrow, Pam Baker, Morgan Asoyuf, Evan Ducharme and Nipii Designs.

For Skelton, clothing design has "a higher purpose" than simple adornment, especially when it comes to gestures tied to the REDress Project started by Winnipeg multidisciplinary artist Jaime Black to remind Canadians about violent crimes against Indigenous women.

"When the ladies are walking the runway in the red dresses they're giving voice to their stolen sisters saying, 'We are silent no more,"' explains Skelton, a member of the House of Hax-be-gwoo-txw of the Fireweed Clan, whose label is called Sugiit Lukxs, after her traditional name.

"What connects us through this colour red is: red is the colour of our life's blood, it connects all human beings, cross-culturally."

Skelton's traditional territory is in the Hazelton, B.C., area, along the Highway of Tears where many people have gone missing. But she says this is a national problem that demands more attention.

The audience is also encouraged to wear red to Monday's event, and the showcase's co-host Lorelai Williams says she'll be donning a red cape by Asoyuf for a simple reason: "We live in a country that just doesn't care about this issue."

The B.C. activist has become a forceful voice on the issue, in large part because of her willingness to discuss her own loss -- her aunt Belinda Williams was last seen in 1978, and her cousin Tanya Holyk was last seen in 1996. Holyk's DNA was found six years later on a farm owned by serial killer Robert Pickton.

"It hits close to home," says Williams, whose dance group Butterflies in Spirit performed at a red dress event for the inaugural Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week in 2017, also held on the unceded territories of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

"There's this thing that happens to me when I see the support -- it makes me cry, it makes me want to cry. There are events where I show up and see, 'Oh my God, all these people are here because of the issue.' It's always amazing to see that and see all the support."

Williams says the recently wrapped national inquiry has done little to ease frustrations for family members unsatisfied with the way investigations into their missing loved ones unfolded. She says families who have complaints against the police and RCMP are now being called by those agencies to follow up, and that concerns her.

"As family members we don't feel comfortable with the police investigating the police. I don't feel like families across Canada actually know that they should be talking to these police or the RCMP with lawyers," says Williams, whose community work includes serving as women's co-ordinator for the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre, which works to build stronger relationships between Vancouver police and Indigenous communities.

"When the police called me, I was very strong about saying I want to meet in person ... so I would have witnesses to what was going on in my cases."

A big question remains, "What next?" she adds.

"Is this issue going to die down in people's eyes? People are not going to care anymore because there's not going to be anything really around it," says Williams.

"But this is what I mean about art -- it raises awareness of this."

As in the inaugural year, festival founder and producer Joleen Mitton says all the models and most of the production crew will be Indigenous, many of them from the foster care system.

The former model launched the showcase in 2017 but says personal tragedy forced her to postpone the second instalment until now. Her older brother Chris Giroux was killed in Edmonton at the end of 2016 and then her mentor, the West Coast carver and activist Beau Dick died.

Mitton says she only came out of her funk in late 2018, but says she emerged as dedicated as ever to celebrating and boosting Indigenous artists.

"I definitely want Vancouver to be a fashion hub for Indigenous designers," Mitton says of her goal.

Wednesday's runway show will feature modern and streetwear designs in neon, denim and bold prints from Tyler Jacobs, Kelly Edzerza-Bapty, Alicia Stephens, and Mobilize designer Dusty LeGrande. Thursday's lineup is set to feature leather, graffiti and embroidery pieces from established designers Angela DeMontigny, Sho Sho Esquiro, Erin Brillion, Karl Harris, and Justin Lewis of the label Section 35.

There will also be an Indigenous Makers Market selling authentic Indigenous art and designs.

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week returns for its second edition Monday.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 17, 2019.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Got Tattoos Together and Its Her First Ink – Us Weekly11.16.19

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes continue to enjoy their blissful romance, even making a commitment of the permanent type by getting (non-matching) tattoos together in L.A.

All of the Most Artistic Graphic Celebrity Tattoos

On Tuesday, November 12, the pair stopped by a West Hollywood artist Kane Navasards spot to get fresh ink. As adorable as this is, possibly the most exciting aspect of the whole thing is that it is the Havana singers first tat.

For her debut design, she got a reference to the 1998 movie Shakespeare in Love written in script on the inside of her pinky finger, which read, its a mystery. Navasard shared the finished product on his Instagram Story writing, Welcome to the club.

Celebrities That Covered Up Tattoos Linked to Their Exes: Pete Davidson, Ariana Grande, Angelina Jolie and More

Then there was Mendes, who is nearly a pro at this point sporting all kinds of different designs. For this trip, he opted to get an A behind his ear in honor of his 16-year-old sister, Aaliyah.

This choice is a bit more subtle than the rest of his body art. For example, back in July he got a butterfly tattoo after a fan named Kayla posted two black-and-white photos of the Stitches singer on Twitter sporting a design she Photoshopped onto a picture of him. After exchanging some DMs, he ended up getting it on the back of his left arm. Wild, right?

Though they didnt match or even pay tribute to one another with their ink, it still proved to be a romantic outing, especially coming from their PDA-heavy date at the L.A. Clippers game.

Not to mention, the duo has other ways they choose to stay connected without permanently marking their bodies. A few months ago people started to notice that the couple is often spotted wearing matching black bracelets when theyre not together. As it turns out the accessory actually acts as a way to communicate without calling or texting. Instead, the Bond Touch Bracelets vibrate and light up when the other person touches theirs.

Who is Demi Lovatos new boyfriend Austin Wilson? – The Sun11.14.19

AUSTIN Wilson and Demi Lovato have confirmed their relationship with a series of loved up photos.

The model and former Disney star are thought to have been introduced by a mutual friend. Here is everything you need to know about Demis new squeeze.

Austin Wilson, 25, is the son of former professional skater George Wilson, one of the original Venice Beach Z-Boys.

George was an icon in the sport between the late 70s and early 80s, now he designs denim jeans.

Austin has modelled some of his fathers pieces, including overalls, coveralls and high waisted work pants.

He regularly pops by his dads loft in LA to sample some of his designs and he is often photographed sporting the clothes on Georges Instagram account.

Like his dad, Austin is based in LA, the same city where Demi Lovato owned a house in the Hollywood Hills.

The tattooed hunk is a male model, who has worked with brands including For Those Who Sin, MSTKN and Baxter.

He has so had a spread in the VVV magazine, which was shot by photographers Phillip T Morrison and Amanda Demme.

Austin often shares pictures of his various collaborations with his followers on Instagram account, which he has more than 94,000 followers on.

Although it is unknown when Austin and Demis romance first began, it is thought the pair were introduced by a mutual friend.

They were both close to Thomas Trusell III, who sadly died in October following a battle with drug addiction.

Demi paid tribute to the late model by getting his initial inked on her arm and shared a picture of the tattoo on Instagram.

Alongside the black and white picture she wrote: A T for Tommy. RIP you special angel. Love you forever@sirtruss.
