CHESTER >> The Philadelphia Union have been boning up on their tattoo stylings, and have zeroed in on an Aston tattoo shop to lead the way.

The Major League Soccer team headquartered in the city Wednesday named Bonedaddys Tattoo, owned by Jay Cunliffe, as the organizations Chief Tattoo Officer, the first position of its kind in professional sports. As the Chief Tattoo Officer, Bonedaddys Tattoo, located at 4932 Pennell Road in Aston, becomes the Unions official tattoo artist, serving as the go-to place for Union players and staff in need of tattoo services.

Bonedaddys beat out more than 150 tattoo artists that went through the teams evaluation process.

We couldnt be happier to announce Bonedaddys Tattoo as professional sports first-ever Chief Tattoo Officer, said Doug Vosik, vice president of marketing for the Union. We whittled the field of 150 down to 13, then to five, and after consultation with our players and site visits with each of the final five, Bonedaddys Tattoo stood out. Were proud to hire them as our CTO and look forward to a fruitful partnership.

In an effort to best serve the Unions tattoo needs, Bonedaddys Tattoo will have Dan Czar serve as a special guest as the shop becomes the Unions Chief Tattoo Officer. Czar, who was also one of the five finalists, came together with Bonedaddys in a display of collaboration and love for the Union and tattoos.

The Philadelphia Union will hold an inaugural event to celebrate the hiring of Bonedaddys at their Aston shop on Monday, August 21 at 2 p.m. The event will see Vosik, Union defender Richie Marquez, and Sons of Ben founding member Corey Furlan all getting tattoos simultaneously to mark the inauguration of the partnership.
